Beekeeping has been in the family for at least three generations prior, we are the fourth generation, to keep an apiary. The goal is to share the knowledge imparted, starting with my wifes' grandfather, to support the honey bee population, introduced new people to the wonder of bees and honey.
Based in Ayrshire, Scotland, as small scale beekeepers we are passionate about our bees: our honey is carefully extracted making sure that the bees have enough left for themselves. It is then course filtered to remove any impurities before bottling.
The filter we use still allows very small particles of beeswax and pollen to remain in the honey. We believe a finer filter would remove some of the taste and beneficial properties of the honey.
It is neiher heat treated nor blended so the that the uniquely distinctive ‘raw’ taste and importantly antibacterial qualities are maintained.
As honey is harvested seasonally, there may be times when some of our products are out of stock. Also, the texture and flavour will vary throughout the season depending on what the bees are foraging on.
We only remove excess honey from our hives, therefore honey is in limited supply each year.
As with all honey, it is unsuitable for children under the age of one year.
